We trade used books, CDs, DVDs books-on-tape and video games for store funny money. There are items for which we pay cash.

Purple funny money is given to a customer who trades in Books and Books-on-Tape. This can be used for Used Books and Books-on-Tape.

Pink funny money is given to a customer who trades in CDs and older Video Games. This can be used to purchase Used Books, CDs and cartridge based Video Games.

Green funny money is given to a customer who trades in DVDs, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Gamecube Video Games. This can be used for everything in the store except new books, posters and collectibles.

Funny money cannot be used to purchase books we buy new from the distributor. These books are designated with a yellow price sticker on the front.

We cannot offer funny money or cash for:

• books in poor condition (torn, soiled, stained, smelly, damaged, etc.)
• books published outside our age limits
• books that we subjectively feel are unsellable
• books previously purchased here which now fall into any of the above categories.

Mr. K’s Holding Policy

We will hold up to 3 items for 3 days! Trade credit may not be used to purchase held items.

Mr. K’s Trading Policy

Books

Trade: For any book traded, you will receive 50% of our estimated selling price for that book.

Cash: There are some books for which we can give you cash. You will receive 20% of our estimated selling price on fiction pocketbooks and 30% of our estimated selling price on non-fiction. The books for which we cannot pay cash or trade will be returned to you (or we can put them in our Free Box).

Cash & Trade: You will receive cash for those books for which we can give cash & trade credit for the rest.

Books-on-Tape: You will receive 50% of our estimated selling price in purple funny money. We do not pay cash for books-on-tape.

Video Games: We give 60% of our selling price in trade and 50% in cash.

Mr. K’s no longer carries videos.

We pay cash for the following:

• Science Fiction & Fantasy
• Classic & Modern Literature
• Westerns
• CDs
• Video Games
• DVDs
• Most non-fiction hardbacks including school textbooks, history, cookbooks, Inspirational, etc.

We offer trade credit for:

• Everything else.

We reserve the right to deny cash due to overstock on certain titles or genres.
